Back to School
The first day of school for Joshua, Rachel, and Emmalee was on Monday, Zachary's birthday. Zachary started two days later on Wednesday and Marissa started on Thursday. It was wonderful to have them all in school. I found myself alone in the car on Thursday after dropping them off with the weird feeling like I had forgotten something. The kids love their teachers and have lots of friends. Zachary's teacher is Miss Lupita. We love listening to him when he says her name. All the kids are doing very well with the Spanish language. Marissa practiced all week on her locker combination and had no problem with it her first day of school. She enjoyed putting up pictures and decorations.

Happy Birthday Zachary!!!
Zachary's 3rd birthday happened a month ago. He had lots of fun. Zachary was excited he turned three because he was now able to go to school like his brother and sisters. SO BIG!!! His first day of school was two days later. He loves school and has the best teacher ever.

Emmalee got to bring George home for the weekend and show him everything about her. We took pictures and then put them in a photo album to take back to school for all the kids to see what they did for the weekend. They had lots of fun together.

School Lists
We just got the kids their uniforms for school which consists of 2 polo shirts, 2 running pants, 1 wind breaker jacket, and 1 pair of shorts. You have to buy them from the school and it cost us $650 US dollars. They are not of the highest quality. In fact the shirts are quite cheaply made. We got the lists for the kids needed school supplies. I thought, without looking at the list that it would be no problem to get these. There are people who you can hire to by the supplies and get them ready for school. I thought that was kind of silly, but now, well lets just say I have repented and plan to hire a lady now. Here is why:
Joshua's List, remember this is First Grade,
1 #2 pencil
3 Highlight markers (green, pink, yellow)
1 Red pencil (not bicolor)
1 Wood ruler 30 cms. (we won't accept metal rulers)
1 Metal pencil sharpener (no toy form)
1 White eraser
1 Box of 12 pencil colors
1 Round point scissors
3 Big Pritt glue sticks
1 Plastic case with zipper (not a box)
1 Small plastic recipient with cover for the pencil sharpener trash
2 Folders, kangaroo type-any color
1 Bottle Resistol 850 with 250 g.
50 1 side white and 1 side stripes index cards 4"X6"(10.6X15.24cm)
1 Plastic folder legal size-any color
2 Used magazines (National Geographic, Better Homes, ect)
2 Big boxes of Kleenex
1 Box of wet wipes
1 English-English Dictionary (Ex: Oxford Junior Dictionary, Longman Basic Dictionary of American, Kingfisher Dictionary, .NY)
3 Construction paper Blocks, different colors, letter size
4 Modeling clay bars (blue, green, brown, white)
1 Set of 12 water based ink (fiber-tip pen) Pelikan
NOTES:
The striped notebooks and blocks will be handed out with the books package.
Books should be covered only with transparent plastic.
School notebooks should be covered only with transparent plastic. Teachers will label the notebooks for the appropriate subject.
Students should arrive the first day of school with their complete sports uniform, and all required school materials and books with name and last name on the covers.
I thought I would be able to handle this. Its a little confusing but with a little help we should be able to get through it, you'd think until you read Marissa's list....

1 Geometry set with precision compass
1 Calculator (simple)

1 Professional notebook, large squares, 100 sheets
1 Professional notebook, 100 white sheets

When I had finished this list Charles and I were laughing. There was no way we could get all this without our heads exploding. Rachel's list is about the same except they add: 1 Flute (Yamaha). Emma's list is just as bad. If we had just one or maybe two kids it would be fine but its 4 kids with different lists and you can't go to one store for it all. I will never again complain about shopping for school supplies in the states.
